Happy birthday, Gram! Your age is safe with us... :)

27 Aug 2006

Unfortunately, this one will be quite bittersweet as her husband of twenty-eight years lost his battle with cancer early this afternoon in Fayetteville at Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Lee was a veteran registered nurse at Cape Fear Valley Medical Centre's Emergency Department and in his 53 years, he touched many lives along the way. When we'd go out and about running errands in Fayetteville, it was the very rare exception that we didn't meet someone he worked with (either as a colleague or a patient!). For years, I wondered if he truly did know about half of Fayetteville's population.

He was certainly a unique individual...unorthodox and with a wicked sense of humor and if you ever got a chance to watch him working in the ED or talk with him about it afterward, you had no doubts where his heart was.

Godspeed, big guy! Godspeed...

Vive Keelia!

14 Jul 2006

We got some wonderful news this morning that Keelia Ryan was delivered Caesarian at 1040 this morning in Columbus, Ohio and mother and daughter are reported to be doing fine.

Her birthday is certainly easy enough to remember... it's Bastille Day in France (they refer to the day as the fete nationale (national party) which should help them get over being sent packing by the Italians in the World Cup last Sunday!).

She was 20½ inches long and weighed 9 pounds 12½ ounces. We're betting she's cute as a button...

I'm sure there are a couple of very proud (and tired!) parents in Columbus now...our best wishes for a healthy and happy baby!

A hot Fourth of July at Lake Benson Park!

03 Jul 2006

A nice park, a big picnic, inflatable jumping pits, great music, and fireworks...and of course, hotter than a certain place temperatures.

It's the makings of a Fourth of July celebration here in the south!

It's a...

20 Mar 2006

Today was the level-2 ultrasound where we find out the answer to the ultimate question when it comes to babies...are we shopping pink or are we shopping a much less generous selection of blue?

The funny thing is that Nicholas has been consistently pushing for a little sister. I mean consistently as in I am not considering the other possible alternative! No matter how many times you'd ask him...he had a baby sister in there and her name was Katie.

He's truly stuck to his guns on this and was totally committed to that prediction...until the ultrasound technician starts aiming for the money shot!

Right at that instant, Nicholas started changing his story and predicted a little brother (who would likely be named Joshua Taylor Williams if we did indeed do the hat-trick of testosterone!).

So I ask you this question...deal or no deal?!?

Sorry about that...what I meant to ask was do you think Nicholas was wrong to second-guess his prediction? Or did he somehow know something that we didn't? Studies have certainly proven that children are often more perceptive than we give them credit.

So the decision is yours...was Nicholas' first prediction the correct one or did he switch genders just in time?

Good bye and good luck, Taz!
