The Story So Far:
Well, I'm glad you're sitting down for this...

God has what seems to be a delightfully feminine sense of humor.
OK, I'd have a hard time trying to reconcile that theory with the reality
that is the platypus other than to say that everyone has an off day. I
mean, who really would come up with the idea of a mammal that lays eggs?
But it's not like God asked my opinion on that one so there you are.
Her sense of timing seems to be one where irony has to be the most
plausible explanation.
After all, no one really could script the last few days that culminated
with a positive pregnancy test being dropped on a box in the office
with the phrase "oh, boy" in stereo.
Back at the beginning of our time together, we had always had a number
in mind when it came to children. I was fine with two and Julia felt
that three was a nice number. But Alexander's surgery and medical needs
had added a particularly poignant dimension to that discussion that just
didn't exist before. And so it was that we had agreed after Alexander
that we would see about getting him to the point where he had recovered
from the surgery and was progressing well enough and then talk about
the third child.
God? Yep...you had to know what she was thinking on that one.
Did you honestly think that you were going to plan this out
for yourselves? YOU HUMANS ARE SO SILLY SOMETIMES!
Well, we're committed to three now (or is that more a matter that we
should be committed). And the only certainty to this is that
there will not be a fourth...we're definitely going to take care of that
toute suite.
But honestly, once we got over the initial shock of this very unplanned
pregnancy, we were very happy and looked forward to welcoming our third
child into the family. And who knows, this may well be the chance to
get the girl that we had tried to get with two planned pregancies.
Because obviously planning things really worked so well before...
:)
But that's not important right now...what's important is that we would
be thrilled with a baby that comes out at term and is healthy. After
Alexander, you can imagine there would be some concern about that but
we've been assured that there is no more chance of the new baby having
cortical dysplasia than anyone else and that it's not affected by
genetics. Healthy and happy...that's all we really ask.
Hopefully God won't think that's too much to ask for...
