A quick run to Clayton with Katie and Alex after school and a free Chick Fil-A sandwich in the app thanks to the Hurricanes means I’m going to take my chances with the White Oak location’s drive through which has usually been more miss than hit through the years.

- 1453 – Order placed via the mobile app.
- 1509 – Arrive at White Oak to find I’m #2 in the street waiting to turn into the conga line.
- 1510 – I’m into the queue proper fairly quickly.
- 1512 – Order taker about 10m from the order boards. This one appears older than the usual ones prowling the conga line, late 20s or early 30s and looks like they might be a manager whose greeting of choice is “How’s it going today?” Wasn’t I just with an order taker that threw me a curve ball of a greeting I’d never experienced previously?!? 🙂
- 1513 – 5m to the single-file choke point which is a 90 degree left turn right at the order board and the queue appears to be moving slowly.
- 1516 – At the order board and both lanes seem to be exercising proper lane discipline interleaving cars from the two lanes.
- 1518 – Window in sight and the area looks fairly clear for quick departures.
- 1520 – At the window and I’m quickly on my way with order in hand.
Eleven minutes through White Oak’s queue seems to be a record for me…I’ve experienced much worse here.
So, let’s get right to it shall we?
- Initial greeting: Definitely better than the non-greeting and no “hey” at all…full marks. As long as it’s respectful and respectfully given, I’m not going to quibble when English has at least thirty possibilities that are better than “hey”. Full marks on this one.
- Order correctness: spot on for the full point.
- Waffle fries: not quite the temperature of magma but close enough which is truly delightful. That made passing the bit of White Oak Rd to the US-70 light which normally takes several minutes much more pleasant!
- Sandwich: full marks for the sandwich, nice size and great coating.
Four out of four from a location that it usually doesn’t do that well for me in my experience…well done! 🙂
