It’s been rather amusing watching the gyrations that a package that was shipped to me via “FedEx Smartpost” has gone through. This is the shipping service where FedEx supposedly moves it most of the way and then has the USPS do the “last mile” delivery.

The first couple of stops seem kind of normal but then for some inexplicable reason, they decided to send it off to Kernersville (between Greensboro and Winston-Salem) when it was only 20 miles west of where I actually live.

And now it’s back at Concord for apparently take two…of how many, I’ve no clue!

The truly terrifying thing is that as far as I can tell…the USPS hasn’t even had their hadns on it yet. And given how penny dreadful my route carriers are, I’m not at all confident that they won’t add their own flavour of utter incompetence to the proceedings though in fairness they do actually go against form and attempt delivery for tracked items so there is a glimmer of hope.

This isn’t the worst I’ve seen, though. UPS once did three full loops between Louisville and Raleigh before realising Raleigh was the destination. I still have yet to figure that one out!
