Today I got the news that I’m sure is totally going to shock zero of my dear readers…the Traverse failed in her attempt to thwart the debugging process and the brand-new transmission that failed downtown will be replaced by an even newer transmission that will hopefully last more than three days!

At least it’s under warranty which means the new transmission and labour are covered which is a good thing because that bill was already truly brutal enough.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t cover the cost of the rental vehicle and the garage is out the cost of the tow as well. That really sucks on both accounts because neither would have been needed had the transmission not been defective so the only party that seems to be “winning” here is the manufacturer who will write off the failed transmission.

Sometimes it sucks knowing something about the law and accountancy. 🙁

With the holidays looming, it’ll probably be some time in the new year before we try again with the replacement transmission but I do have faith that eventually the Traverse will find her way plying the motorways round the Greater Metropolitan Raleigh area and we can forget about December until the next bit of automotive joy comes our way.

At least we’ve got a month or so to play with before Nicholas turns his attention and wrenches to the brakes which will hopefully be much more pleasant a task for him than the oil that soiled his pristine maintenance bay was.

So, until then…here’s a bit of subversive humour for the Traverse who has probably spent more nights outside in this painful automotive misery than she has the entire time I’ve had her. Goodness knows that Nicholas has loved taking advantage of the garage being decidedly emptier than usual!
