Oh, Carl!

One could dare to dream but your estimate is off by an order of magnitude! Well, the estimate of what the bill is likely to come to but the estimate of what will be left over is depressingly much closer to the reality of it.

I just got the lovely news from the garage that the Traverse’s transmission decided it has had enough of converting torques and moving the rest of that SUV down the road.

To to be fair, that factory-installed original made it 241,000 miles which is decidedly longer than the usual service period and it certainly put in the hard miles but yeah, I would have much rather it had been something stupid easy to mend with a fluid flush or something equally inexpensive.

Trying a rebuild and hoping that it would work would be equally pointless and likely we’d be back to the point of having to replace the whole bloody transmission much sooner than later.

So as much as it royally sucks, doing the full-on replacement will get me 100,000 miles or three years (whichever occurs later and we *KNOW* what that one is going to be!).

At least the best neighbour in the known universe is saving me boucoup buck$ by trusting me with his beloved F-150 truck rather than having to hire a car for a couple of weeks which has become breathtakingly more expensive over the years.
