In my most recent review of the brand new Mos Eisley Chick Fil-A, I had mentioned that I was planning on letting them have a few weeks before trying the drive-through to give them a chance to get settled in their new digs and work out the kinks of the drive-through.
A daughter needing a bit of Fish Water prior to going to work and a younger son who was hungry ended up convincing me otherwise.
They have two lanes where one is dedicated to mobile orders which is really nice as you scan a QR code and then keep on trucking.
It’s even more nice when you’ve put in that order literally in the car park next to them and that particular lane of the queue was completely empty allowing me to just drive up, scan the QR code, and then overtake the four or five cars in the other queue waiting for the person in the drive-through to take their order.
That’s a good sign as the mobile option is usually the most convenient and something Brier Creek has done to perfection.
There is a set of traffic bollards at the end of the mobile drive-through lane which briefly combines the two lanes down to one but once you’re past that choke point, you’ve got plenty of room to overtake if they deliver your order to you out of the order of arrival at the delivery point.
It’ll be interesting to see how long those very narrow pole bollards last as it wouldn’t take a terribly substantial vehicle with an impatiently exuberant driver to knock them over in their haste to get to the delivery zone.
About two minutes later, the bag with the Lord’s Bird sandwiches for the kids is aboard and I’m already overtaking the car only car ahead of me that was at the door to the drive-through delivery.
It may well have been the time of day (about 1530 or so) and a very uncomplicated order (two sandwiches) at a location that doesn’t have it’s street signage but total time from ordering on the app in the Starbucks car park next door to joining the queue and then heading back out to New Bern Av was about four minutes end-to-end.
That’s Brier Creek level of performance!
It’ll be interesting to see how this holds up when it’s a full-on lunch rush but for now I’m going to save that for when they’ve truly settled in but the early indications are that they’re doing really good at this location! 🙂
