An EMAIL!

Heaven be praised…the last ticket I submitted to Intuit for their Kafkaesque amended return refund process actually sent me an EMAIL saying that the refund request has been processed!

Mind you, I never got the confirmation that the ticket was submitted that was promised by their system but at least I got something from them before I had to chase after the status myself so there’s that, at least.

I had waited until after the IRS and NC Dept of Revenue had indicated that they were happy with the electronically submitted updated corporate returns.

There was a little bit of a scare after the Federal 1120 return was submitted.

I had thought I’d set up all of the appropriate flags and checkboxes so that the Federal 1120 would be filed as a superseding return (*NOT* an 1120X amended return) and the CD-405 as an actual amended return for North Carolina.

That faith was put to the test after seeing the IRS accept the superseding 1120 because ProConnect would not unlock the button to allow me to E-File the CD-405.

I could see the amended flag was set as well as the items the message was indicating but no joy on the button activating.

Sadly, the online chat had closed for the evening.

Normally after the returns are E-Filed in ProConnect, the software locks the return so you can’t wreck the numbers which may be used in populating next year’s return.

I ended up biting the bullet and unlocked the return hoping that it would allow the state return to be E-Filed and fortunately it did!

Yay!

One more E-File and the return was re-locked and about six hours later, the confirmation that the state had accepted the return had arrived so we should be done for this tax year and I should see the refund in a day or so! 🙂
