With every true friendship, we build more firmly the foundations on which the peace of the whole world rests.

Faith manages.

But having true friends who make the journey just that little bit easier certainly helps quite a bit!

After the epic stupidity of last night that still ended up having a happy ending back up the hill a bit in Knightdale, I’m happy to say that as of the writing of this article…I have not topped that level of idiocy.

We take our victories where we can find them! 🙂

Today started out with a delightful surprise when I met up with Alex for the short trip to Enloe in the form of Katie and two labradoodles!

I had a very different idea about how tomorrow was going to go and Katie certainly made those plans obsolete and I couldn’t be happier.

So after a bit of big hugs from the doodles and a morning excoriating Equifax’s latest galactically stupid idea as a cheap form of therapy, the day has pretty much low key which is the way I like it.

A bit of play with labradoodles and tiring them out (briefly!), quick trip to get Alex from school and thankfully the squirrels finally decided to cooperate and present themselves for barking therapy (after weeks of no labradoodles where the squirrels were so numerous that they were threatening to take over the neighbourhoods as well as engaging in their nefarious plans against the monarchy!), getting him ready for work, and delivering him unto the Lord’s Bird Emporium in Garner for his shift.

The Pub Landlord’s “Squirrel Drill”…

Then there was a slight detour for a late afternoon snack and a run through the Fish Water Purveyor’s for the free drink I’ll never actually drink (but Katie was more than happy to step up to the plate!) where the gent manning the drive-up window reckoned that I was 62 today. That’s actually better than average so we’ll rate him an optimist…most people tend to overshoot my age by ten years or more rather than the seven he did.

A quick dodge round dodgy drivers and it’s back to the house for more labradoodle physical therapy, big hugs and cuddles from the doodles before buggering off for a bit of New Jersey wonderfulness at Frank’s Pizzeria (which I’m sure I’ll hear no end about when Nicholas returns from mechanic’s training in Goldsboro later this week).

After a bit more doodle harassment, I’m thinking this day will end with a movie night for Katie, the doodles who will probably conk out in their favourite locations, and me.

And I could not happier be!

Tomorrow will find Katie and I attending Alex’s “Field of Dreams” in Wake Forest so we can spend some time with him. He may not be up to swinging the bat but I suspect he’ll be quite the cheerleader for his side on the diamond. 🙂

Thank you all to those who have posted kind birthday wishes and those who have thought them for no matter whether you’re near or far, you’re never far from my heart.

Friends, family, and others that I love and cherish are truly what keeps me in the game come what may.

As for the musical anthem for this year to come?

There was only one choice… 😉
