Sometimes on days such as this…a simple “shalom” and offer of a sincere thought for someone to be well works wonders.

So for the gentleman in the lunch queue at Neomonde wearing that beautifully embroidered kippah who did so for me today…you’ve made this trying day just a wee bit better which is a gift beyond words.

I love that we are mishpucha. You made me tear up. Shabbat Shalom sweet man!

Shabbat shalom to you and Hannah as well…I was actually thinking of you guys early this morning whilst watching “The Big Lebowski” when John Goodman’s character was adamant that he will not roll a bowling ball on Shabbat! ??

I’ll admit to almost being to tears whilst talking to him…he actually initiated the conversation as I must have looked like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders (though nothing compared to Julia who will be shuffling between two hospital rooms this weekend whilst I’m a few hours away with Nick and Katie for her dance competition).

What really has stuck with me was those piercing blue eyes that looked as if they’ve also seen many things in this life one may not wish to speak of. His accent reminds me of friends I used to work with who were stationed in Haifa and if so…he certainly has been there and done that and seen many things.

He didn’t say much but what he did and how he said it is the sort of good thoughts and wishes I really appreciate more than I can say. And I think he understood that…there’s a look one can see in another’s eyes where there is shared experience of hard things.

I think my father would have liked him…sincerity always went the longest way with him. 😉

Yes it did. He’s always with us Erik. Sending you hugs and love.
