Finally the new series of Top Gear is upon us which once again allows us to follow the boys larking about in cars and generally delighting silly petrol heads.

But in the first episode, it is clear that someone in the production team has a right buggered sense of humour or they don’t particularly fancy listening to Lancastrians.

So Chris Harris, Freddie Flintoff, and Paddy McGuinness are tooling about in convertibles they bought on a budget of 600 pounds.

And I couldn’t believe my eyes…they actually provided captions for Freddie Flintoff’s perfectly intelligible commentary!

Now captioning PADDY I’d totally understand (and got my wish about a minute later)…he’s definitely a fair bit closer in accent to his native Lancashire than Freddie is and if you’re not used to hearing it, it’s much closer to what you’d hear in Scotland.

But captioning Freddie who sounds so posh London (or at the least Harris’ Bucks accent) after all the years of hanging about the English cricket team?

Now that is some subtle and surreal genius…especially when you consider that they’re all speaking ENGLISH. 🙂
