In a manner of confession, this is exactly the thought I have when I’m filling up the Traverse at the petrol station and not just when the stations spike the prices thanks to the crisis du jour… 😉

I didn’t expect the people running the Colonial Pipeline to be IT wizards but when you’re part of an industry that has more money than God, I do think it reasonable to expect that people who are ignorant about IT could have bought a team full of the best nerds on the planet to secure the network and the servers.

But given how fragile their infrastructure seems to be and most of it is located in areas prone to tornadoes and hurricanes, it seems rather shocking that the pipeline industry hasn’t really been forced to secure systems that wreak economic havoc every time it goes down or some mouse breaks wind in Alabama and disturbs the flow of petroleum products! 🙁
