Last week’s theme took about a hour or two to come together.
Tonight’s tribute to the 53rd anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd’s iconic album “Dark Side of the Moon” (which was actually released on 01 Mar 1973) took all of about five seconds to decide upon.
Happily, we didn’t have anyone on the ice when I arrived at the rink so I was able to play the entire album between the two Zamboni sessions and ending with a couple of tracks from “Momentary Lapse of Reason” whilst being a primarily David Gilmour solo album in all but name is still credited to Pink Floyd long after Roger Waters’ departure from the band.
Eagle-eyed members of the audience would have a hint as to what was coming on the scoreboard.
My younger son Alexander was inspired by me previewing the night’s playlist that he did his own interpretation of what is arguably one of the most distinctive album covers ever designed. When you see the prism and rainbow, you know what that album is without any need for the title or band name. 🙂
