When the news of Tommy DeCarlo’s passing broke yesterday, you could be forgiven for not knowing who he was.
After all, prior to his becoming the lead singer for the band Boston after founding lead singer’s Bryan Delp’s death suicide, he was working at a Charlotte area Home Depot.
After Delp’s passing, he recorded a couple of covers of Boston songs which brought him to the attention of another Boston founding member in Tom Scholz who was immediately impressed by just how much DeCarlo’s performance was so much like Bryan Delp’s.
And that’s how Tommy DeCarlo became the new front man for Boston until his passing which was ironically 19 years to the day since Bryan Delp left us.
