The theme for tonight’s musical interludes are the tracks inspired by the final frontier in honour of the Artemis II mission testing the capsule in a loop round the moon.
53 years after Apollo 17 was the last mission to land astronauts on the moon, Artemis II represents the first time that four brave human beings fired the engines for a trans-lunar injection burn and traveled beyond low Earth orbit back to the moon.
In so doing the crew flew further than any humans have ever gone surpassing the record set by Apollo 13 by traveling 252,756 miles (406,771 km) from our home planet.
As the capsule commander noted, it’d be nice if it didn’t take another 53 years to surpass this record!
