Tonight’s action will be a bit more interesting than usual as both of our games will be going on simultaneously on both rinks and so I’ll only have the one set to play before we get into the action.
Because Miss Kristina is way cooler than I am and definitely has me dead to rights in the seniority department, she called dibs on the game featuring the Dragons on the Wake rink (for some strange reason I cannot possibly imagine…*COUGH* #44 on Dragons *COUGH*!) which means I’m heading over to the Forest rink for the tilt between the Hydras and the Gargoyles where I’ll be testing out a re-designed scoresheet.

Even though it’s a bit of a schlep to grab pucks from the cupboard on the far side of the Wake rink for games on the Forest rink and I’ve got to remember that the scoresheet is the reverse of the way the benches are laid out, Forest isn’t quite the briar patch it might well appear to be.

You see, there’s a microphone available in the Forest rink’s scorer’s booth and it’s been put to use recently to update the players on the scoring in the games in the Stanley Cup Final and it’s safe to say that it has gone over quite well and I’m not averse to a bit of experimentation and having some fun with it.
That’s where the new bits of the scoresheet come into play as it’ll now capture the time of a goal or penalty because even if we’re not a professional like Wade Minter (the Hurricanes PA guy and all-round good egg that ironically enough I met for the first time at this rink years ago for a sled hockey tournament), we try to run a family-friendly and professional show!
Anywho…on to tonight’s theme…
Brad Delp, the long-time lead singer of “Boston” would have been 75 today and given how much I’ve loved their music through the years (and how many times “Foreplay/Long Time” has featured in the warm-ups when I have to make the trip to the Wake rink to get the pucks owing to it’s extended run-time!), tonight’s theme was a total no-brainer.
The warm-up set will be featuring Brad Delp’s favourite tracks that he loved to sing according to a 1988 interview with Steve Newton and as it turns out, his personal favourite also happens to be mine as well. I’m sure you’ll have no problem figuring out which track *THAT* one is… 😉
