When we think of the composition of many popular bands, we often hear of the break-ups and reunions and yet the band itself somehow manages to carry on.

Take Rush as an example…the passing of their iconic drummer Neil Peart might well have been the death knell for a band that has been together for over 50 years and yet Anika Nilles has not only taken on the near impossible task of sitting down at Neil’s drums, she’s done so to rave reviews.

However, when it came to the untimely and early death of John Bonham who was the legendary drummer for Led Zeppelin on this date in 1980…it was a blow that the band never recovered from as they felt they just couldn’t go on without Bonham’s unique style of percussion.

It’s hard to argue the point with them as these selected tracks that were very heavily influenced by John Bonham’s playing can attest

Game 1 Warm-Ups

Zamboni and Game 2 Warm-Ups

The goaltender for the Bendis Division champion Dragons requested “Moby Dick” before the game but he needn’t have worried, it’s such an amazing Bonham song that there was no way it wasn’t getting played tonight! 🙂

The set ended with “All My Love” which is my favourite Led Zeppelin tune that is super saturated with lovely synthesizer work! 🙂

Post-Game

This rule only applies in “Wayne’s World” (due to Led Zeppelin denying permission to use the song at the last minute which leads to the iconic joke “no Stairway…DENIED!”)… 🙂
