There’s no rest for the weary after handing out the league championship to Season XIV’s Dragons of the Bendis division…we’re right back to it for Season XV.

When I pulled down the official MCHL playlist over a year ago, most of the songs on the list were ones I really wasn’t particularly familiar with.

There were a few that were more in my wheelhouse and then there was “Taste” by Sabrina Carpenter which seemed such a shocking inclusion when most of the tracks are much more into the heavy metal end of the musical spectrum.

Don’t get me wrong…I totally dig that track but to say it seemed a wee bit out of place was way past mere understatement to full-on British understatement.

As it turns out, two years ago today that track would be one of three Sabrina Carpenter songs that had occupied the top ten of the Billboard charts for five weeks straight and in so doing becoming the first female artist to ever have that many singles in the the top ten (beating Cardi B’s six year-old record of four weeks).

What I wasn’t planning on was having a lot more time to play with than I was expecting for a single game tonight so we had a much longer Sabrina set that I was planning! 🙂

It took someone of the stature of Sabrina to stop me from the other factoid that had caught my attention when looking for a theme and finding that Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells hit #1 on the UK charts on this date in 1974 with the 19 year-old Oldfield playing nearly all of the many instruments featured on that track!
