Coming home one afternoon, I’d noticed a rather sizeable signature spider had built a huge web anchored by Fortitude (one of the two Japanese maples in front of the house) and a much larger oak tree across the driveway near the neighbour’s post box.

The spider retreated to the shelter of a leaf but was hanging out in the centre of the web a few hours later after dark.

The web didn’t look all that successful at catching anything and would be gone a couple of days later but it was certainly an impressive bit of work that Charlotte A Cavatica would be absolutely proud of! 🙂
