I’ll admit to being genuinely shocked.
For the longest time, Brier Creek was the definitive standard when it came to fastest trips through the drive-through queue thanks to a dedicated lane just for mobile orders where you scan the QR code and then head to the window to collect your food.
I never imagined that their record of two minutes from arrival to departure would *EVER* fall.
And yet tonight, the Mos Eisley Chick Fil-A has managed to pull off that feat and during the dinner rush, no less!
90 seconds!
And this happened in a location where experience would suggest that traffic problems would be rife considering how they managed to shoehorn this location onto a postage stamp-sized lot between the Starbucks and AutoZone on the hill.

Whoever had the idea to use one of the two drive-through lanes for mobile orders was really paying attention to what it can do to speed up the experience for those of us who’ve already put in the orders through the app and just need them to fulfill them when we arrive.
So I make the left turn into the queues and the regular drive-through queue where you have the person with their portable electronic kit taking the order was literally all the way to the entrance of the queues.
Amazingly, the mobile queue was completely empty and I’m sure the 15-20 cars I breezed by were looking over at the Traverse with probably less-than-kind thoughts.
Truth be told, I’ll probably have blotted my copybook with an entry suggesting I ought to go to Hell when my first thought was of Marcel in “Rio” when he’s got the only parachute and tells his smuggler buddies “bye bye losers!”

One QR code scan later and I’ve overtaken the entire drive through queue and drop in right at the delivery door which I’m sure didn’t really endear us to the rest of the queue that hadn’t seen us blasting past on their starboard side.
This impossibly adorable cutie with an amazingly beautiful set of freckles quickly identifies me without using the hated word of greeting (bonus…looks like Miss Savy and her colleagues really trained this crew up right!) and I’ve got the free sandwich and large tea aboard and I’m already out of there and making the left turn to get to the road behind the Mos Eisley Walmart which is the fastest way to get back to eastbound New Bern Av.
90 seconds.
And right in the middle of the dinner rush! Though in fairness, I don’t know how many people know that this location exists and is operational because there’s really no signage visible from the main roads and the building itself is kind of in a hole (the terrain heading westbound on New Bern Av is rising to a peak at the stoplight at the intersection with New Hope Rd).
But it wasn’t like they weren’t busy…that full drive-through queue certainly was hopping and I’m sure that once the word gets out that there is a closer alternative than Knightdale or Capital Blvd, the traffic coming to this location will likely increase the queue waiting times to closer to the norms seen elsewhere.
I plan on enjoying it whilst it lasts! 🙂
I got a quick look at the sandwich before Alex devoured it in no time flat and it looked like a right righteous example of the Lord’s Bird.
That’s three really awesome experiences in a row. We in the business call that a winning streak! 🙂
