On the way to collect Katie from work, we stopped in at the White Oak Chick Fil-A to grab Alex an example of the Lord’s Bird for dinner.

Everything seemed to be going fine as the mobile order was submitted at the time I left the garage.

It’s when we got to the mobile drive-through queue that everything started going a wee bit pear-shaped when the new kid with the tablet (at least I’m guessing he’s new when he was rocking a trainee badge) couldn’t find my order in their system.

Normally it’s not terribly hard to find me with their insistance on using my first name and it’s somewhat unusual “y’all ain’t from the South” spelling.

Apparently, it was proving even more elusive than would be expected even for someone who was training up on the job.

His mate came round to have a bit of a gander and between the two of them I was waved on to the pickup window.

After thinking about it a bit, I’m thinking they’ve not alerted the tablet wielders in the queue that there’s a new feature in the mobile app that tracks your progress and when you’re within one minute of the store, it automatically submits the order for fulfillment at the window/door without having to scan the QR code or check in with an employee.

When the slightly glacial queue moves along enough, one of the young ladies comes bearing Alexander’s sandwich…and a large sweet tea I didn’t order which was easily discerned because had I ordered it, it would have been explicitly ordered sans ice.

There was a bit of confusion on their end because the mobile order clearly only shows the sandwich that I’d redeemed for points for no charge.

Now, I had redeemed a free sweet tea a couple of days prior and I can only guess that the system apparently picked up on that reward (which had been redeemed and was not visible in the app) behind-the-scenes and figured it’d add it to the order.

Chick Fil-A fulfillment makes error in your favour…collect a massive sweet tea!

Maybe they ought to consider that for Chance or Community Chest if they ever do a Lord’s Bird version of Monopoly! 🙂

Alex’s sandwich looked right righteous, though. Yum! 🙂
