For as long as I can remember…it really never seemed like Christmas to me until it was time to spend a few hours with Jimmy Stewart and the residents of Bedford Falls. We’ve spent enough time together these many years that we are practically family.

These last couple of years, I’ve had the treat of the privilege of shooting the dress rehearsal of “It’s a Wonderful Life” at the Gilbert Theatre in Fayetteville. A happy bonus of more time with the Bedford Falls gang SO rocks and just makes the festive season that much better.

No matter what is going on in the world or how dark the times may seem to be…George Bailey never fails to inspire hope in what the new year may bring and remind me that I’ve been fortunate to have a wonderful life indeed.

Sometimes that’s been rather hard to see these last couple of years but three wonderful children (challenging as they may be!), beloved family, cherished friends and neighbours, and a roof over my head is all I really need to be the richest man in town. Maybe the whole wide world, eh?

What most people wouldn’t know until now is that “It’s a Wonderful Life” was what was tuned on the TV when I got the call from Florida telling me my father had passed away two years ago. I’d be surprised if the kids remembered that little detail…the rest of that night was a bit of a blur but I’ll never forget that we were visiting Bedford Falls that evening.

If anything…that makes me love the movie even more. I may never be rich and famous…but I have a wonderful life nonetheless! 🙂

May you have a wonderful festive season…a happy Christmas…and a great new year. And may you also have a wonderful life!
