The first system I ever worked on was a document conversion workflow that was automated with state associated with each step a document took through the process from scanning to OCR and writing to electronic file formats.

I just suggested adding rudimentary workflow state management to the administration application I support for Alexander’s therapeutic horseback riding.

26 years after that first job and here we go workflow again! 😉
