With Wednesday’s nasty storms came a big power outage caused by a lightning strike to a pole just outside the neighbourhood.
The surge seemed to go at least as far as a junction box about a fifth of the way to my house and it took about seven hours before power was finally restored.
But let’s just say I’m thankful that all of the electronics round here seemed to survive perfectly fine in spite of more than a few close strikes (which is surprising given my recent track record of home maintenance woes included having to replace the garage door opener spring bar!).
Of course, when you’re bored and it’s hot inside the house and someone who will remain nameless is streaming Disney+…your mind can’t help but wander to similar shapes to the outage maps with the ever worsening predictions for restoration! To Carolina Flash and Flicker’s credit, the final estimate of 0430 was off by three hours in our favour… 🙂
Let’s just say the trigger happy EVE of “Wall-E” or Anton Ego’s study in “Ratatouille” wasn’t exactly encouraging to one’s mindset… 🙂
