I ordinarily don’t do the “share memories” thing but in this case given last night’s announcement by their excellencies the Wake County School Board vis-a-vis band activities which effectively renders impossible the normal functioning of a band by banning woodwinds and brass that make up the majority of the instruments from playing, I give you this picture of the Fuquay-Varina Marching Bengals featuring Miss Savannah Coley as one of two colour guard members performing at their home marching band competition from last year.

The words don’t exist to properly describe how much Nicholas has missed marching the baritone sax for what would have been his senior year which included the Enloe tradition of the “senior run” where only the seniors perform the show (which is rather hilarious given the huge gaps on the field and so many missing instruments!).

And my heart goes out to all of the band instructors wherever they are trying as hard as they can to provide the gift of music in a pandemic world. Trust me when I tell you our hearts are with you in these trying times… 🙂
