Time to Put My Foot Down!

Time to Put My Foot Down!

As it was getting to be early evening, it was time to make a speed run along I-70 to the next waypoint north of Columbus OH.

Along the way was a quick trip through downtown Indianapolis and then a conversation with Mom and Meghann about Hutsonville that allowed the Ohio state line to sneak up on me!

After checking into the hotel, I was greeted with a completely different way of handling the breakfast. This place handed me a sheet with the items listed on it whereas the previous two stops had the breakfast buffets open.

At that point, I was actually more interested in acquiring some vinegar and cotton swabs to try to clean the crud from the F5’s battery holder and see if I could bring the camera back to life with some lithium AA batteries. This is when I got a quick reminder of just how huge Meijer is…the vinegar was on one side and the swabs and batteries as far as one could get on the other side of the building. And then there was the trek back to the registers where I originally came in…

By the time I was done with the couple of laps of Meijer, I was definitely ready for some dinner as the only thing I’d had all day long was the sandwich at Lion’s Choice before setting off from the St Louis area.

Polaris certainly doesn’t lack for choice but nothing really seemed appealing until I came back over the I-71 bridge and spotted a Mellow Mushroom tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. After being seated in a not terribly busy restaurant and assured someone would be round immediately…I got to enjoy the next 10-15 minutes of ambience but no sign of someone to take the order. This is when I leave and have at least two of their employees stare at me as I’m getting my bearings outside the door but clearly didn’t make the connection that the reason I was outside was that I was weary of being ignored inside.

Luckily, Five Guys on the other side of the building was open long enough for a burger and fries which were a wonderful accompaniment to cleaning the F5’s battery chamber.

Sadly, the F5 still would not power up even after cleaning away the crud as much as I could which makes me think this might be it for the camera. I can’t say I’ve not gotten my money’s worth out of it…I spent $295 years ago for a camera that originally sold for $3-4K and put many rolls of film through it.
