When I was looking through the options for tonight’s theme, I really didn’t know which direction I was going to go and had almost resigned myself to digging some tunes out of the Mystery Crate and seeing what it’d come up with.

But then my eye fell upon one item that noted that the fourth studio album by the band Radiohead had gone to #1 on the UK charts on this date in the year 2000 and would *DEBUT* at #1 on the US chart soon after which is almost unheard of.

It’s no secret that I’d largely checked out of listening to most commercial music after 1985 or so. Sure, I’d keep up with the new albums of my favourites over the previous fifteen years but for the most part, the new “artists” seemed little more than technicians with some expensive kit and lighting or screaming noise factories which is what really put me off the 1990s for the most part.

That combined with an utter dislike of commercial radio that was far more commercials than music, there just wasn’t a whole lot of incentive to keep listening to whatever “new” artists were being pushed my way by the record labels.

In the case of Radiohead, I had heard the name briefly in passing but had never heard a single track of their music until I started canvassing their catalogue for the theme.

What a darned shame that was because I never imagined I’d find a group with a vibe even more mellow than Coldplay and I was genuinely enjoying listening to them to find the tracks I wanted to use and the challenge was finding ones that would have the driving rhythm I prefer for the warm-ups! 🙂

Miss Kristina gets the credit for picking the very ironically named “I Might Be Wrong” (because of course she never is! 😉 ) but it definitely fit the bill!
