Nicholas had a photo assignment for his digital design class so with all of the online schoolwork done for the day, it was a lovely opportunity to visit Yates Mill Pond Park which has a water driven mill house on site.

We ended up doing the full lap round the lake and it was a load of fun to get out and enjoy having a camera at hand just for the heck of it.

Nick was rocking the D7000 with the 55-300mm DX lens, Katie was driving the D700 with the 50mm f/1.4 prime (though I really should have given her the 28-300mm Tamron walk-around lens), and Alex had his iPhone camera going.

We didn’t see any snakes but there were a few cardinals and some turtles along the way. And I have no idea what kind of bird was sitting out in the lake…kind of looks like some sort of heron to me but the colour doesn’t look right for a Great Blue Heron.

Anywho, what a lovely hike…I’ll definitely be coming back for more with camera in hand! 🙂
