Ambassador Vir Cotto: I heard about yours. As Mr. Garibaldi would say: “It’s been one hell of a day”.
Lennier: Yes, a hell of a day.
Ambassador Vir Cotto: And a hell of a year.
Lennier: A hell of a five years.
Ambassador Vir Cotto: A hell of a life.
Lennier: You win.
It’s been a very long week here at the Nerdery with more than a few hours locked in mortal combat trying to find words that can adequately express the emotions I’ve been feeling the last few weeks.
Normally, I’d offer up a nice long “Urbi et Orbi” to sum up the year but this one is going to be short and sweet:
My wish is for all of us to hang together and survive what’s coming in spite of the dark forces wishing to divide us.
May you choose kindness and understanding of others rather than succumb to the fears that may have been stoked by those who seek to profit and gain power from them.
When in doubt, remember those three words written much larger than rest on a uniquely beautiful document and think upon the words that follow and how you will defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign but especially the domestic ones who would wish you to give up in despair.
May you love each other and be cherished as I cherish all of those that I’m privileged to call friends and family.
May your 2025 be one of hope and peace and love. 🙂
